Welcome to The Friends of GLBT Youth, Inc.'s Website!

The Friends of GLBT Youth, Inc. ("The Friends") is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating homophobia and transphobia in order to allow all young gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Interested in working with The Friends?

Looking for an exciting internship opportunity? The Friends of GLBT Youth is looking for an Intern to develop and organize a GLBT College Fair planned for Fall 2009, under the direction of members of the Board of Directors. The Intern may make a flexible work schedule, dedicating between 15-20 hours per week on average, depending on the needs of any specific week. Among the responsibilities of the Intern will be:

--recruiting and communicating with universities and colleges

--marketing the Fair to area youth

--managing any necessary arrangements for the Fair

--proposing and executing a budget for the Fair, and

--making regular progress reports to the Board.

This would be an ideal opportunity for candidates interested in careers in higher education, youth services, community activism, or other non-profit management. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they are self-motivated and will take personal responsibility for the success of the event. The Internship is unpaid, but approved costs will be reimbursed and the Board will do whatever paperwork is required to facilitate class credit. Access to a computer and office software is also required. Please contact Allison Caso if you are interested or desire more information.

3rd Annual Sunset Soirée

The 3rd Annual Sunset Soiree was held Friday May 1st at the Boston University Trustee's Ballroom. A huge thank you to all of those who came to support The Friends and the GLBT Youth. Without you, Youth Pride would not be the monumental day of celebration that is has come to be!

Check out the latest "Friends" news in our Spring 2009 Newsletter. Beginning with a retrospective from Ex Officio President Joblin Younger and continuing our mission by new President Timothy Kelliher, their reflections reinforce why Youth Pride and the mission of The Friends of GLBT Youth is still important in 2009 and beyond! One of our newest board members, Allison Caso, writes about starting her High School's first Gay / Straight Alliance in the late 90's, demonstrating how youth leaders become adult leaders!
